Custom Headlight Mount

Working on making a new custom mount based on the crime scene choppers mount.

Love the way they designed it, so trying to fab something similar. This will lower the headlight without drilling anything onto the fork, like the fork mount on the 48.this will be a classy bobber style drop from the triple trees.

Lower the Nightster

I swapped shocks of my nightster with the 48 and its just perfect, not too low to scrape the speed breakers.its about 12 inch eye to eye , the stock shocks are about 14" , so a 2 inch drop is just good.

After Lowering , Compare with the Iron Next to it.

I was initially looking at the 10.5" burlys and licks lowering shocks , but they might get too low for indian roads...

Old School Bobber Plates

I am working on customizing the license plate holder,i liked the old school bobber style with indicators mounted on the license plates.i made the below design from some of the pics i found online.

The sportsters have the brake light built in the indicators, which is a good idea.i will now be able to move those just like these in the picture.

may be in the future i will get the mini indicators and get an rodder tail lamp.

The New Look -- Kustom DTZ Design

After about a Year since I got my bike, I started working on the paint job.I started creating my own designs using GIMP in Linux.Tried more than 100 different designs on the tank and finalized this one.

I had to keep in mind the quality of work and the paints available in India to achieve the design ,having these I had only limited type of designs that can be achievable. There are painters in every nook and corner , but I had to find a place that can dedicate good amount of time and effort.luckily I know the management at CARZ , Hyderabad and they have worked on my earlier rides.I am very happy about the work done there so I choose to go with that place. They have a dedicated paint booth and some really good painters.

I finalized the design and the colors , before I started workin on the tank I got a sample metal piece and had the design done in different colors,it came out pretty good and then I finalized the colors.

I had to get a very good stencil cut done to mask and paint.I managed to get a guy in the old city who could stencil pretty accurate, but I had problems with the stickers available coz they are very sticky and while removal they used to take the paint off too.it was a lot of trouble, had to redo couple of time and real pain.the painter finally managed to get it done.I wouldn't say its absolute perfection but its really good.I love the paint job and it did come out great.

I even got the tyres accented with orange color.the logos on the tyre are hand painted orange.

Overall I am happy with the way the bike came out.it feels like a totally new bike.

Spring Seat

Inspired by the classic bobbers and choppers I got myself the Harley Spring Seat...! Its very classy and comfortable.

Stock Springs

I even tried the seat pan style by removing the springs , it looks very cool but its not good for the back.its very hard in bumps and you will tend to have a direct impact on your spine.it should be fine for short rides.

Hyderabad H.O.G Chapter

Finally it took a whole year to start the Hyderabad H.O.G , the result is...Awsomee...! There were about 26 Harleys Starting from Iron's,Superlow's to the NightRod's,Softail's & CVO. Customers were assembled at the showroom by 7:30 Am on the 9th of July and the briefing was quite brief which finally got flagged at 8:15 Am.

Bike's Parked in the Basement , Before the Ride

The Riders are well informed on the hand signals and safety precautions before the ride.Proper Riding gear is enforced on the riders to ensure the safety. They also have a bunch of technicians and a van with tools and supplies all along the ride.

Harley Support Vehicle & Technicians

The ride is done in 2 stages , its about 170 Km in total. The first leg is from the Banjara Harley Showroom to the Ramoji Film City taking the Outer Ring Road, which is about 80 Km.

Bikes on ORR

Just after we got off the ORR we had a fuel stop as there were a number or Iron's , 48's and Nightster's.Breakfast is organised in the Film City , Its about a 1 hr break.

Bikes Parked in Film City

The Second Leg started from Film City to Leonia Resorts in Shamirpet , Which is also about 80 odd Km,This is quite a hectic route while going , as we had to cut thru the city via L.B Nagar, Uppal , Secundrabad. The bikes got totally heated up in the traffic, specially near Uppal.once we got on to the shamirpet road the traffic eased.

Bikes Parked at Leonia

Lunch is arraigned at the Leonia Resorts , After Lunch they organised Paint Ball for the Members,it was awesome right after that we had a tea break and there is the pin up session with certificate distribution. At 5:30 everyone started back to the city, lucky that there isn't much of traffic this time.

Group photo just before we took off from leonia resorts

The event was a great success with a good number of bikes,Banjara Harley organised it very professionally and hopefully I m looking for more events like these in the future.

Nightster & Super Low

Nightster and Super Low together, completely two different bikes the nightster 1200 all in black's and the superlow 883 with shiny chrome...!

Bobber Style

I am quite impressed with the bobber's nd choppers of the late 70's style with a rigid frame.I love the way it looks and the fat drag bars look cool with the springer fork. I am currently working on the costs of transforming from what the bike is now to a classic bobber like the one below.

The Entire transform requires a new rigid frame , new springer front end , new wheels probably 180/200 rear end, belt to chain conversion,8" T-bars. Its like changing everything except for the engine.thats gonna b a crazy mod but its quite possible.

'
Stage 3

The Third Stage of Mods are to relocate the Speedo below the Fuel tank , to raise the fuel tank about 2 inches to give that bobber look and move the ignition, coils and wiring to the left.I liked the drag bars, flanders low cafe drag bars,I went with the broomstick type with stock risers initially, but it went too low and not so comfortable to ride long distances ,so I got a 3.5 inch risers which are quite comfortable now,but i think a 4.5 or 5.5" risers would be perfect.I liked the solo spring seat from the harley so got the solo spring seat and the spring seat kit as well.I have also moved the front turn signal lights to the fork and got clear lens with visors.the mirrors are mounted under the bars just like the harley forty–eight , I think they are pretty cool.

Those are the mod's for now and the stage 4 mods to come are the custom paint job, lower rear shocks.change the headlight mounting to the fork, change to 5 3/4th bobber style head light, chop rear fender for the bobber look.get a bobber style tail lamp, relocate the rear indicators.

Concept

My Kustom Nightster is basically designed on the lines of harley bobbers and cafe racer concepts.

Stage 2

The Second Stage of Mods are A Harley Rear Seat,Silencer Style Grips,The Paint job and Local Fab stuff.

I have the original seat and got the rear seat if ever I need to ride with a pillion, which I hardly do.I liked the silencer style grips from the Harley, they have a complete set(foot pegs, shifter peg).I wanted to Paint my Head's,Push Rod's,Disc Callipers,Air Filter Cover,Rear Pulley and the Engine Covers.I have decided to go with the matt black finish on the covers, the heads and the rest with the Harley orange.

The fab work consisted of a custom number plate, drilling of the exhaust cover, drilling in the levers to get a raw look to match the hand grips.

Banjara Harley have been very helpful in gettin an awesome paint job and fab stuff done.

Dtunerz Kustom 1200N

It all started off on the 9th of the October when I got the brand new Harley Davidson XL 1200 Nightster.

I started working on my kustom nightster getting tips from all various tune ups around the world.most of my research is from the web and I definitely need to thank XL Forums,Banjara Harley,Roland Sands,John from Harley Service for providing some good tips,Mark from mandmcycles.com for shipping me the parts to India.

Stage 1

The First Mod I started on was the Exhaust system,The stock exhaust of the Sportsters are Quiet. I have done some research around on different systems available,of them the first and foremost is from the Harley itself "Screaming Eagle Exhaust" which is a slip on and it does provide some great note.I looked up online and found out most of the harleys "sportster" in and around usa are hooked up with exhausts like vance & hines , bassani , bub and lot of other custom makes.

I some how liked the way the shotshorts looked and also for the sound I preferred those.most people online recommended me to go with vance & hines and also most sportsters i have come across had those.I have checked out a lot of videos ,heard different exhausts online before making the decision, but trust me what you hear online and later in real can be so different, coz after we installed the exhaust and fired up its way too loud to imagine and simply awesome, just no words to explain.

I have got the screaming eagle stage 1 air cleaner and have gone with the vance and hines fuel pack.there is an option for power commander as well but again people recommended me to stick with vance and hines.

The First set of mods have the Vance & Hines ShotShorts Exhaust + Screaming Eagle Stage 1 Air Cleaner + Vance & Hines Fuel Pack.
